his project features the seamless integration of a shed-style patio roof to enhance the functionality and comfort of a modern A-frame mountain home.
Before, the home had a large concrete patio space with full sun exposure, making the area difficult to use during peak daylight hours. While the expansive glass gable façade and double doors invited natural light indoors, the outdoor living potential was limited.
During construction, we installed a new beam-supported roof system with pressure-treated posts and exposed rafters. The framing was carefully aligned to preserve the architectural lines of the A-frame design, while enhancing shade and outdoor usability. The pitch of the new roof was calculated for proper water runoff and matched to the home's aesthetic.
After, the result is a clean and well-proportioned roof addition that maintains the home’s sharp modern lines while dramatically increasing its usable outdoor space. The covered patio now provides shade and shelter for year-round enjoyment—ideal for relaxing, entertaining, or simply enjoying the mountain views.
